As a hunter I am sure you know that kind of meditation. Offer something to trees -- whiskey might be traditional for you. We use tobacco or cornmeal in the states. Then just ask the spirits to show you the right one, that it light up, or you just be drawn to it. I have a feeling you will go right to it. Telepathy is a picture language. I may have my pick of these trees to have a stave cut out for later manufacture into a longbow (I am that extremely rare woman who not only hunts, but uses only primitive weapons that I make myself......... I have made several longbows at my father's workshop in Northhumbria) I have always had a nearly mystic connection with trees, less so other plants but these trees will have long expired and my feel will no doubt be blunted. Arlene....... how do you think I should try to ascertain their energy as this is critical in selecting a bowstave. Some of these yews may well be 1000 years old, and they will be auctioned for unimaginable prices to talented woodworkers who we can only hope will preserve them well by their craft. But I am afraid of making a spiritually blind choice, and a bow is a very living thing, which is resurrected almost from the dead tree.
